Question: What’s Cooking at TWI?
Answer: TWI Cooking Classes!

At the first of two events, 10 guests joined in the chopping, stirring and noshing on some of the best-loved Turkish delectables.

What began as a simple fundraising idea has grown into a fun way to prepare and share well-known Turkish cuisine with friends old and new.

Importantly, all proceeds from the two events will sponsor additional TWI Sparks Program in Turkiye in the upcoming 2023-2024 academic year. To date, there are funds for eight programs for a total of 64 university women of low and modest means. They will have the opportunity to develop leadership and career skills that make a positive difference in their lives – and the lives of others. For the upcoming cohort of students, all will be selected from families affected by the recent earthquake in Southeastern Turkey.

The recipes and instructions were generously donated and delivered by Yasemin Ari and Dilek Yucel, founders of “Yasemin’s Kitchen.” Thank you, Yasemin and Dilek, for helping to make this possible! The cooking events have proved to be a great, fun way to gather, learn the recipes, share in the preparation, and then enjoy the results at a sit-down meal.

If you are interested in hosting or participating in a “TWI What’s Cooking?” event this fall, feel free to contact us at info@thetwi.org

“Getting there is half the fun” applies to both the preparation and enjoyment of the resulting meal. Anyone for Baklava? Stuffed eggplant? Sigara borek with cheese?
