In January 2023, TWI launched the Sparks USA Leadership Development Program for immigrant women.

Modeled after its flagship Sparks program in Turkiye, Sparks USA is designed specifically for the needs of immigrant women who seek a successful career in the US. Its aim is to provide leadership, organizational, cultural, and self-developmental skills for tomorrow’s immigrant leaders.

During the six-month program, participants explore unique values and perspectives in their academic, social, and work lives. They also learn how to face the challenges unique to immigrants who are preparing for
global careers.

The curriculum includes learning-by-doing activities aimed at sharpening critical skills in communication, teamwork, decision-making, negotiation, resume building, brand building, conflict resolution, and critical thinking.
Sparks USA was developed and is spearheaded by Turkish Americans Dr. Nurcan Ensari, Professor of
Organizational Psychology at Alliant University and Dr. Ayca Altintig, Associate Professor of Finance at USC’s Marshall School of Business.

Program assessment data following the pilot showed that participants grew significantly in leadership and career self-efficacy, social skills, and interpersonal awareness

The program is now conducted virtually in order to serve immigrant women and international female students at universities around the country.
